State of the parks

The Bath Township State of the Parks will be held on May 16 at 6 p.m. at the University of Akron Field Station, 4160 Ira Rd.

Jen Hardin, the new Bath Park Board president, will welcome the public and park board members to the annual review of Bath parks. Elaina Goodrich, Bath Township trustee, will give a short history of the parks followed by Bath Service Director and Interim Park Director Caine Collins, who will update the audience on the 2023 Bath park improvements, maintenance and future plans.

John Landis, past Bath Park Board president, will advise on poison plants in local parks. Sarah Barrow, watershed coordinator for Summit Soil and Water Conservation District, will report on water quality testing efforts on Yellow Creek. Lisa King, executive director of Summit Metro Parks, will give information on Summit Metro Parks’ newest park, Valley View. Refreshments will follow the meeting. ∞
