Township Corner

by Robert Luther

I hope everyone has enjoyed the summer and is ready for the fall season.

Our two-man road crew can handle our small road repairs, but there are times when the crew needs help on larger repairs. We are lucky to have seasonal employees who can step in to help.

We will be hiring an extra person for the winter season. Speaking from firsthand experience, it’s no fun driving a truck around in a snowstorm all night. I’m sure the guys can use the extra help.

We have applied for grant funding through the Ohio Public Works Commission to help with road resurfacing projects. If we are not successful in the first round of funding at the district level, the township is eligible to apply for a Small Government Grant. I hope we can get some of those funds. It never hurts to apply.

We will be planting a Liberty Tree on Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. in front of the Richfield Township Administration and Service Department building to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation. Please join us in celebrating. I hope the deer aren’t too rough on it.

Snow will be here before we know it. Please be careful; it seems like it takes time to get used to winter driving conditions.

As always, be safe and enjoy the fall weather.
