Officers escape injury after pursuit damages cruisers

On Sept. 9, Copley police were called to a reported shoplifting at the Home Depot on Route 18. Officers located and pursued a pickup truck carrying two people who had been spotted at the scene. The driver fled onto I-77 north.

Copley police asked Richfield police to join the pursuit on the highway.

Just inside the Brecksville border, the truck rammed into the police cruisers, and Richfield officers employed pursuit termination techniques and successfully stopped the truck. No officers were injured; however, three patrol cars were damaged. The suspects were apprehended.
