Revere Corner by Keith Malick, president of Revere Board of Education

The Revere column is provided this month by Keith Malick, president of the Revere Local Schools Board of Education.

Dr. Michael Tefs, our current superintendent, has resigned from the district effective July 31, 2024. The board of education took the first step toward beginning the search process for Revere’s next superintendent by engaging in a partnership with the School Leadership Search Service of the Summit Educational Service Center (ESC), who will facilitate the search process.

On Feb. 15,  Summit ESC began the initial phase of the search process through the utilization of multiple focus groups represented by the following groups: teachers, support staff, administrators, high school students, parents, school support organizations, and local community members. These focus group sessions allowed our Revere community to be involved and offer guidance in a collaborative manner on the characteristics and principles they expect our next Revere superintendent should possess.

The anticipated time line for the next steps of the search process are as follows:

  • Application deadline: March 6.
  • Interviews begin: late February – early March.
  • Interviews end: late March – early April.
  • Offer to top candidate/board action: April.
  • Expected start date of next superintendent: Aug. 1, 2024.

The board is committed to move in an expeditious and strategic manner. We believe that Revere’s exceptional reputation and overall continued success will attract outstanding candidates for superintendent who will lead Revere and build on our bright future.

The application process is now open and interested individuals can access the online application. For up-to-date information, a brochure and the search timeline, as well as a link to the application, please visit: revereschools.org/administration/board-of-education/superintendent-search. ∞
