The City Manager’s Desk – Thomas Sheridan

In reflecting on the achievements of 2023, I am eager to delve into the exciting milestones during my upcoming State of the City Address on Feb. 22, at 8:30 a.m., hosted by the Hudson Chamber of Commerce, at The Country Club of Hudson. Please join me for this event by registering at explorehudson.com. If you can’t attend, you can watch the address later that day on our city’s website at hudson.oh.us.

While I won’t divulge all the details of my presentation, I’m thrilled to offer a glimpse into some of our noteworthy accomplishments from the past year. One standout initiative by the city this year was the successful launch of our pilot Private Residential Driveway Plowing Program, tailored for residents aged 65 and above or those with disabilities. This program ensures the safety of our seniors and disabled community members, enabling them to access medical treatment, pick up prescriptions or reach emergency services even in inclement weather. Our hope is to offer this again next year. For additional details, please visit hudson.oh.us/PrivateDrivewaySnow.

Advancing our council’s commitment to community infrastructure, we made significant strides in our $20 million investment plan for sidewalks and trails spanning from 2021 to 2025. New sidewalks on Middleton and Stow Road/SR 303 and the completion of Veterans Trail Phase 3 at Cascade Park enhance the accessibility of walking and biking routes throughout Hudson and especially in these local neighborhoods.

Addressing the concerns of our residents, the city established two railroad quiet zones at the Stow Road and Hines Hill railroad crossings, effectively minimizing train horn noise in these two areas of Hudson. On the infrastructure front, completion of the left turn lane on SR 91 by Stoney Hill has notably eased navigation in that area.

In fostering economic growth, Hudson welcomed 24 new businesses, while witnessing substantial private investments in our community. Notable projects such as Hudson Community Living, Hudson Preserve, ACME renovations and Peg’s Foundation construction have underscored our community’s vibrancy and potential for continued success.

These accomplishments represent only a glimpse of our work in 2023. As we embark on the journey into 2024, we invite you to stay closely connected with us.
