On January 19, the Revere Board of Education emailed the following (unedited) letter regarding the resignation of Dr. Tefs to local media:

The Revere Board of Education was presented with a letter of resignation from Superintendent Dr. Michael Tefs on Thursday, January 11, 2024. The Board acted at the January 16, 2024, Board of Education Regular Board meeting and accepted Dr. Tefs’ resignation which is effective July 31, 2024.

The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Tefs for his dedication to the Revere School District over the past two and a half years. During his tenure, the district continued its long-standing tradition of being one of the top performing districts in the State of Ohio. Dr. Tefs has assured us that he will continue to work diligently over the next 6 months to ensure the district’s continued success and assist with the transition. We wish Dr. Tefs much success as he moves into the next chapter of his career.

Revere will persevere with purpose and confidence and continue its tradition of being innovative, collaborative and a conduit for producing outstanding students with bright futures. It is our collective collaboration that leads to our continued success. We are so lucky to have an outstanding community with involved parents, enthusiastic and high-quality educators and staff and an administrative team that is innovative and leads by example. Our shining stars are our success driven student body who continue to strive toward excellence as they weave down their educational path while often earning State and National recognition. Revere will continue to move forward and thrive. It is this continued success that has attracted high quality administrators, teachers, and staff. These successful people work in tandem with each other, our students, and our community to instill the core values of Revere’s Vision of a Minuteman to ensure our students are prepared for the world and the challenges they face while being excited for new opportunities and adventures.

Revere’s exceptional reputation and overall continued success will attract outstanding candidates for Superintendent who want to lead Revere and build on our bright future. The Board will be working hard over the next few weeks to identify the right search firm to assist us in our superintendent search process. A timeline and plan will be developed in consultation with the search firm. Once the plan is finalized, we will share this information with the district and community.
