Art festival returns to JOANN lawn on Aug. 26-27

The Hudson Society of Artists will present the 41st annual Art on the Green – now renamed Art on the JOANN Green due to its location – on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 26-27, at the corner of Terex Road and state Route 91, in front of the JOANN headquarters.

“From 1980-2019, Art on the Green ran yearly and took place on the downtown Hudson Green, but as our show has grown over the years, so have the trees and landscape features on the green,” said HSA spokesperson Jane DiLullo. “Trees replaced tent spaces, and we had to move the event.”

This will be the second year at the JOANN location, she added, saying the new space “provides easy access and ample free parking for exhibitors, food trucks and attendees, and enough space for the event to grow over the next 41 years.”

Art on the JOANN Green is a juried fine arts and crafts show that features the works of over 140 exhibitors. Categories include painting, sculpture, woodworking, jewelry, metalwork, photography, digital art, fiber arts and clothing, ceramics and pottery, glass works and more.

Admission is free, and food trucks will provide a variety of dining options. Some of the slated food trucks include Cheezy Weezy with gourmet cheese sandwich creations; Stray Dog Café with gourmet wraps, hot dogs and salads; PopCultureCle and Henry’s Creamery with homemade ice cream treats; and the perennial favorite, Hanson’s Kettle Corn. DiLullo also said that Jay Nye, from Jaybird Entertainment, will perform music.

Art on the JOANN Green is a rain or shine event. It will run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on both days.

HSA is a group dedicated to promoting the arts in the community. Membership is open to anyone interested in the arts. Although the group is based in Hudson, there are no residency requirements for membership.
