Rookie rugby league registration underway

Registration is open for the inaugural season of the Hudson Rookie Rugby League. This new league is aimed at providing area kids in kindergarten-fifth grade the opportunity to learn about the sport and participate in matches this spring. The co-ed league is open to players from Hudson and surrounding towns and introduces a non-contact flag version of the sport.

“The sport has been incredible for my three daughters and son, who played at the middle and high schools. I wish they would have had the opportunity to begin at a younger age,” says Ryan Regan, director of the Hudson Rugby Club. With the addition of this league, today’s youngest Ruggers can take advantage of this early start.

Games will be held on Saturday mornings at Lavelli Stadium from April 15-May 20. Players can expect to play multiple games each weekend, as well as participate in instructional drills and practices prior to the matches. Athletes will work on fundamental skills including running, kicking, passing, space strategy and teamwork.
