Police rehire officer

Feb. 13 township trustees meeting
Sagamore Hills trustees approved Police Chief David Hayes’ request to rehire Annette Soucie as a part-time officer.

“Annette worked for us before and she went somewhere else,” Trustee David DePasquale said. “She’d like to come back part-time and the chief recommends it, seeing as how she already knows the area and she won’t have to go through any field training.”

Soucie will be paid $22.50 an hour.

At the police chief’s request, trustees authorized the purchase of 10 body cameras for $21,875. This price includes consultation, set-up, training and cloud storage for collected data. Additionally, the police department will purchase two in-vehicle cameras for $10,888.

“The current system that we purchased several years ago is unrepairable and the technology is outdated,” DePasquale said.

The cameras will be paid for using remaining federal American Rescue Plan funds, according to DePasquale, “so that won’t be coming out of the budget.”

Trustees also authorized hiring Pete Lachina for part-time summer help in the roads/park department. He will work for $20 an hour, on an as needed basis, starting April 15. ∞
