Revere board sets interview schedule to pick new member

In a March 9 special meeting, the Revere Local Schools Board of Education set the interview schedule for candidates seeking to fill the unexpired term of former board member Mike Kahoe, who resigned to take a state government job in Columbus.

According to board President Keith Malick, five applicants will be interviewed for the Revere post on Monday, March 13. The next day, the board will interview three candidates seeking to fill the unexpired term of Revere’s representative to the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center board, which also was held by Kahoe.

Malick said there is no overlap of aspirants to the Revere and CVCC boards.

The terms of both positions expire on Dec. 31.

“There will be only one set of interviews, unless something out of the ordinary happens,’’ Malick said. “On Monday, we might have a decision [on the Revere board member], but I can’t promise that.’’

Malick said the board is not committed to choosing a successor to Kahoe by March 13 or 14, but “that is our hope.’’

The board is required to name a new board member no later than 30 days after the position becomes open. Kahoe’s resignation was effective Feb. 27.

All discussion by the board on personnel matters takes place in executive session.

In the unlikely event the board does not make a decision by the deadline, Summit County probate court can take jurisdiction and fill the vacancy. ∞
