Giving Back & Gratitude

As we collectively embark upon yet another New Year, it is my sincere hope that everyone had the opportunity to spend some cherished time with family and friends over the year-end holiday season. Looking into 2023, I wish everyone a safe, peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Hudson, Ohio, is a wonderful city. Over these last few months, it was nothing short of amazing to see and experience the outpouring of generosity, amount of volunteer activities and the level of giving from our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed, helped out or coordinated these events and programs. As I recently stated in one of my social media posts and in the words of John D. Rockefeller – “Think of giving not as a duty but as a privilege.”

In addition, during the Nov. 15, 2022, city council meeting, I presented a proclamation to recognize the Live, Love & Shop Local Season here in Hudson. I want to take a moment to further recognize all of the many shops, stores and businesses that are local to Hudson. Their exceptional attention to detail, unique products and services and their added efforts to spread joy over the year-end holiday season was remarkable. Our small and local businesses are the heartbeat of our community, and they play a significant role in helping to maintain the charm that is Hudson Ohio. As such, please consider to continue shopping local throughout the year and helping support our local economy.

In last month’s publication, our City Manager Thom Sheridan gave an overview of the many projects and work that is underway to further improve the safety, services and amenities within Hudson. I also had the pleasure to sit in on the first official meeting of the steering committee that will develop and present the city’s next Comprehensive Plan. If you would like to know more about the projects within our city, please visit the website at hudson.oh.us and/or sign up for the city’s weekly e-newsletter. In addition, all residents are welcome to sit in on future Steering Committee meetings, and there will also be some “public outreach” meetings scheduled in the future. Please reach out to the community development team at city hall for more information.

On a final note, thank you to the 8,843 residents who voted for me in the Nov. 8 General Election. While I ran unopposed to complete the unexpired term ending this December 2023, it was my pleasure to further engage with the community and meet more of Hudson’s residents. Serving Hudson over these past nine months has been my privilege, and I look forward to continuing to do so as we move into 2023.

Thank you, Hudson! ∞
