Help your neighbors this holiday season

The holiday season is all about giving and Brecksville, Broadview Heights and their neighboring communities offer residents several ways to help those in need closest to home.

The Adopt a Family program is a straight-from-the-heart opportunity to give directly to a family in need. Adopt a Family invites a family, business, church and service organizations to make Christmas brighter for less fortunate children 17 and under in Brecksville, Broadview Heights, Seven Hills and Independence.

 you would like to Adopt a Family please call the Human Services Center in your respective town. In Brecksville it’s 440-526-2499, in Broadview Hgts. the number is

440-526-4685 in Seven Hills it’s 216-525-6230 and in Independence it’s 216-524-7373. You’ll be matched up with the size family you want. The goal is to provide a $100 gift card for each child in the family. Names of recipients are kept strictly confidential.

The gift cards are due by Dec. 1.

This is the 40th year for the Yuletide Hunger Program, which provides food for low income families in Brecksville, Broadview Heights, Seven Hills and Independence.

Donors are asked to bring food to their city’s respective senior centers through Dec. 1.

Also, and just as importantly, the Yuletide committee is asking for monetary donations by check made payable to your city of residence with Yuletide Hunger Program on the memo line. Funds received will be used to buy food to augment what is donated and certificates for a turkey or ham. Please contact the Human Services Center in your town for more information.
