The Grapevine

An article in the May Richfield Times led to a wonderful excursion for 97-year-old Lloyd Wright.

Three years ago Wright moved back to Ohio and frequently commented on wanting to catch a walleye in Lake Erie. His son-in-law, Chris Marinchek, read the article in the May Richfield Times about the Cast it Forward program started by Art Panfil.

Marinchek contacted Panfil, who scheduled a fishing excursion on Lake Erie.

According to Wright’s daughter, Denise Marinchek, Wright pulled in some large walleye and Panfil provided a full day of fishing, laughs and new friends.

A Coast Guard certified captain and advanced angler, Panfil started the Cast it Forward to provide free boating excursions for veterans, seniors and children who might not have the opportunity to do it otherwise. Fishing gear and other equipment are provided, and there is no cost to those who participate. Participants are welcome to keep any fish caught during their trip.
