Mayor’s Corner

November is a time to honor service, count our blessings and appreciate the people who make Richfield a special place to call home.

On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, we recognize the men and women who have served in our nation’s armed forces. Their sacrifices and those of their families deserve our lasting gratitude. Our Hometown Hero banners, displayed through Veterans Day, remind us of the service and dedication found here in our community. Please take a moment to thank a veteran and reflect on the freedoms their service has helped preserve.

As autumn leaves fall, please help our service department by placing leaves at the front ditch line or within five feet of the road’s edge, but not on the roadway, for collection. Crews complete their rounds throughout the village before returning to previously collected areas. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Mark your calendar for the Richfield Tree Lighting Ceremony on Nov. 27. Thank you to the Richfield Civic Organization and the volunteers whose efforts keep this cherished community tradition alive. I hope you will join your neighbors as we welcome the holiday season together.

Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, reminds us that our greatest blessings are close to home: family, friends, neighbors and a caring community. I am grateful for our village employees, first responders, volunteers and residents who serve others throughout the year. Please remember neighbors spending the holiday alone or needing a helping hand.

On behalf of the Village of Richfield, I wish you and your family a peaceful and happy Thanksgiving.
