The Nordonia High School hockey team ended the regular season with a 9-1 record after winning five games in a row to become the Blue South Divisional Champions. The team was recognized at a Macedonia City Council meeting on Feb. 24. Council proclaimed it Nordonia Day in the city of Macedonia.

Nordonia hockey coach Rich Cinalli received the Blue League Coach of the Year Award.

Both the Nordonia boys and girls varsity bowling teams advanced to the district meets after the girls took third in sectionals and the boys took first place. The boys team went on to win districts and advanced to states for the third year in a row.

During the district meets, the Nordonia swimming and diving team girls’ relay broke the school record.

Junior Landon Naylor of the Nordonia Knights boys basketball team received Second Team All Conference honors. Junior guard Liam Gopalakrishna received honorable mention All Conference honors.

Carmekia Waltonen, of Sagamore Hills, graduated with a BSN after majoring in Baccalaureate Nursing from Ohio University’s College of Health Sciences and Professions.

Sagamore Hills resident Leah Ritner made the Ohio University fall 2021 Dean’s List.

The following students from Sagamore Hills were named to the fall 2021 College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s List at John Carroll University: Oscar Beman, Brandon Mitchell, and Jordyn Schultz.

Sagamore Hills resident Ricky Gupta made the Dean’s List for the 2021 fall semester at the Rochester Institute of Technology. ∞
