Adult programs

Writer’s Guild of Nordonia Hills: Dec. 20, Jan. 17, 6:30 p.m. Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome, fiction, nonfiction and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Bring a sample of your work to share.

Nordonia Hills game time, board games for everyone: Dec. 16, Jan. 20, 10 a.m. Play games including chess, board and Euro games, role-playing games, mah-jongg, and regular and trading card games. All ages welcome.

Socrates Café: Dec. 13, Jan. 24, 6:30 p.m. A regular gathering of adults engaging in great conversation, exploring current events, thoughtful ideas and reasoned debates. Come and take part, or just listen to the discussion.

Light fiction book club: second Monday of each month at 2 p.m. Discuss light fiction books. Copies of each title will be available at the Nordonia Hills Branch Library one month prior to the discussion. Dec. 11: “A Family Affair” by Robyn Carr, Jan. 8: “Identity” by Nora Roberts.

Children’s Programs

Paws for reading: Nov. 27, Dec. 12, Jan. 9, 6:30 p.m. Read a book to a certified therapy dog. Bring a book or read a library book. This is a great way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Registration required.

Story Time: Dec.7, 14, 11:30 a.m. Story time features stories, rhymes, music, sometimes flannels and bubbles followed by a playtime. For children ages 3-5. Registration required.

Messy Monday: Join us for some messy fun at 6:15pm. Registration required. Dec. 18: Snow paint pictures: Make a creamy, puffy paint that is cold to the touch and top the picture off with some glitter. Jan. 29: Sparkly winter paintings: Create a beautiful winter painting with paint, glue and Epsom salt.

School Age Programs

Thrilling Thursdays: Thursday, 4 p.m. Join us after school for fun activities. Nov. 30: Fall tree luminaries: With some tissue paper, a jar and few other craft materials, make a festive luminary that can be used over and over again. Dec. 21: Make a snow globe. Jan. 18: Hex bugs: Design a maze with different pathways and obstacles out of various materials and use hex bugs to see how they respond.

Teen Programs

Dungeons and Dragons: Second and fourth Mondays, 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 27 Dec.11, Jan. 8, 22, Feb. 12, 26. Join our quest at your own peril. Bring your dice and your tankard. Snacks provided. For more information, ask Mistress Sue.

Teen Café: On the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m., try something new. Dec. 21: Celebrate everything chocolate. We'll create, play games and eat chocolate. Jan. 18: Make your own felted coffee sleeve. Feb. 15: Miss Sue will provide different kinds of material to design a cell phone stand.

Teen Lit Loot: Grades 6-12 are invited to register for the library book box service: Lit Loot! Each box contains two books and an assortment of goodies. Registration required. ∞
