Live Halloween ‘Pipe Screams’ music

Oct31

6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Adults and children alike are invited to stop by First Congregational Church, 47 Aurora St., on Halloween, Monday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m., for “Pipe Screams,” a free, family-friendly event. Collect treats in our dimly lit historic sanctuary while enjoying live Halloween-themed organ music.

When playing Halloween music, it can sometimes sound like the organ’s pipes are screeching or screaming, hence the phrase “pipe screams.”

“It’s the perfect opportunity for people to stop in, grab some candy, and enjoy some spooky and silly organ music,” said organist Charlotte Beers Plank. “The atmosphere will be very family friendly and festive. Costumes are encouraged, even for those who are not trick-or-treating elsewhere.”

This is the sixth year the church has offered this free event. Attendees are welcome to stay for a few minutes while they pick up treats or take a seat in the pews to enjoy the entire casual concert.

Pipe Screams will also be livestreamed on hudsonucc.org, Facebook and YouTube and makes a great soundtrack to those handing out candy at home. For more information, visit hudsonucc.org. ∞
