Free informational panel discussion on writing a will

Apr26

6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Hudson Community Foundation will host a free informational panel discussion on writing a will and making sure you have all the right documents in place to ensure your wishes are carried out properly when the time comes. This panel is offered by HCF as a community service. Panelists include recognized experts in the field of probate law, accounting and financial management. The discussion will be 6:30-7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, in the Assembly Room at the Barlow Community Center, 41 S. Oviatt St.

“With a valid and complete will in place, families can avoid the distress and uncertainty they experience in the absence of specific instructions on how to handle a loved one’s estate,” said HCF President Amy Jordan. “About 60% of all American adults of all ages and income levels don’t have wills, living wills or health care powers of attorney in place simply because ‘they never got around to it.’ This may be the time and place to start.”

This session also can be helpful to Hudsonites who already have wills in place but might want updates on what is new in tax law or probate practice. Panelists will include Keith W. Smith, a certified financial planner and senior vice president, The Smith Group at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management; Christopher T. Teodosio, partner in the Trusts and Estates and Litigation Practice Groups, Brouse McDowell; and Rich Warfield, a certified public accountant and partner, DKC- Warfield & Company.
