Human Services Center has several ‘Talks’ planned this winter

Just one of the many activities at the Brecksville Human Services Center is “Brecksville Human Services Talks.” Here’s what’s coming up in the Gathering Room:

Thursday, Jan. 11 from 1-4 p.m. – The Cuyahoga County Library presents the “Digital Navigators.” Skilled people from the library will show you how to sign up for an email account, how to use email, how to use your phone to text, make calls and take pictures and safely browse the internet. Bring your phone, lap top, iPad or Kindle.

This is by appointment only. Call the center for your one-hour time slot at 440-526-2499. Brecksville residents only.

Friday, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. – Cathie Clager and Rita Wolensky, master story tellers will fascinate you with, “Innovations from a Divided Nation.” They’ll go back to the time of the Civil War and point out legacies created then that still exist today, like the National Parks, Santa Claus and The Ohio State University.

Friday, Jan. 26 at 11 a.m. – It’s a presentation from the people who want you to feel good again. It’s Active Health Physical Therapy on Brecksville Road. Our speaker will be Nikki Umina who holds a Masters in Science and Physical Therapy from Walsh University. Don’t worry if you only speak Greek, she’s fluent.

Monday, Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. – Do you or a family member have cancer? Have you ever heard of The Gathering Place? Yes, your doctor answers the tough questions but the caring people of the Gathering Place go way beyond that. Beth Elsass will let you know what services, help and comfort are available.

Friday, Feb. 23 at 11 – Laura Hazen of Hanson Home Health Care Service will talk about “Healthy Brain Basics” with an emphasis on Alzheimer’s.

All programs are at the Brecksville Human Services Center at 2 Community Dr. Please let us know if you’ll be attending any of the programs by calling 440-526-2499. ∞
