The Joy of Watercolor Retreat brings art and nature together

Richfield Heritage Preserve hosted the Joy of Watercolor Retreat in October, with the park’s fall colors providing a backdrop for artists.

Sponsored by the Richfield Heritage Preserve Conservancy, the five-day retreat celebrated art, community and the connection between creativity and the natural world.

Artists from as far away as New Mexico and Massachusetts joined residents of Richfield and surrounding communities for the five-day retreat.

The class fees of $750 and profit from the event were donated to the park.

According to Meg Slifcak, a member of the Conservancy, the group created Art in the Park to enhance the park visitors’ experience, and specifically, to enjoy art in a beautiful natural setting. She said they have started to plan for another five-day retreat for the fall and a three-day retreat for spring.
