Bath dispatch and police department debut new logo

Bath Township’s dispatch and police department’s former logo, featuring a bald eagle holding an olive branch in its left claw and three arrows in its right, has been modernized with a refreshed image for the department.

For the first time in 40 years, the department underwent a visual rebranding for its uniform update featuring the new logo.

“We felt this update was vital to establish a modern brand identity that truly reflects the high standards of professionalism, dedication and integrity upheld by our agency,” said Bath Township Police Chief Vito Sinopoli.

Steven Tayerle, Bath Township’s communications supervisor for dispatch, explained that he, alongside the township’s communications team, created the new logo for the updated uniforms.

Their original redesign efforts focused on creating a darker patch that Tayerle said “would mute the bright colors seen on the original,” but decided to change their approach and use multinational software company Canva for design.

“After many renditions, a decision was made to keep the traditional design, updating it with the township’s new font and color scheme,” Tayerle said.

The new logo includes an eagle modeled after the Great Seal of the United States. The bird is holding an olive branch to evoke peace, and now four arrows, which represent the four police districts in Bath. Tayerle explained there are four police beats that officers are assigned to daily. To further promote peace, the eagle’s head faces its claw with the olive branch.

In addition, the gold outlining around the logo showcases the department’s values of honesty, integrity and respect to encourage and maintain public trust.

“While the new designs are much more contemporary, they honor our history by utilizing many of the same core attributes and symbolic elements as the original logos,” Sinopoli said. “It’s a bridge between our long-standing traditions and our forward-looking commitment to our community.”

Tayerle added the modernization is not only meant to emphasize the department’s traditions but also encourage future generations of officers to protect the township to the best of their abilities.
