Trustees Corner by Trustees Monique Ascherl, Cyntia Engleman & Jack Swedyk

We are keeping our fingers crossed that all of our April showers will bring beautiful May flowers. Speaking of flowers, did you know that Hinckley Township hosts a community garden? If you are interested in obtaining one of the 14 raised garden plots behind the township’s fire station, visit the “Community” section on our website, hinckleytwp.org, to learn more. Plots are still available for the upcoming growing season.

Hinckley Township will again host the Memorial Day Parade in the center of town on Monday, May 27, at 9 a.m. The parade will begin at Our Lady of Grace Church on Ridge Road and proceed south to Hinckley’s Town Hall. If you are interested in participating in the parade, please email the township at admin@hinckleytwp.org We are looking for veterans and Gold Star families, but all are welcome to participate. The Chamber of Commerce will donate the doughnuts that will be distributed by Hinckley Women’s Club.

There will be a change in our road work schedule this year as the Medina County Engineer’s Office did not receive the approval from the Ohio Public Works Commission Grant in time to bid the project by June. This delay has altered our plans and we have had to pivot from working on Valley Brook Boulevard to Bethany Lane. Bethany Lane was on the schedule; however, we will complete more of this road than initially planned this summer and the Valley Brook Boulevard project will be back on the schedule in 2025.

Mark your calendars for our first movie night of 2024. The township will host an outdoor movie in Bronger’s Park, behind town hall on Saturday, June 1. Bring your lawn chair, blankets and pillows. We will have complimentary popcorn and snacks. Visit the township website for additional information, including the title of the movie. We hope to see many of you at this family-oriented event. It provides a great opportunity to meet new neighbors and reconnect with old friends. ∞
