Friends of Richfield Heritage Preserve

The Friends of Richfield Heritage Preserve are celebrating two monumental anniversaries this year: the 15-year anniversary of the group’s founding and the 10-year anniversary of the Friends partnering with the Richfield Together Campaign to promote the purchase of the former camp by the citizens of Richfield Village and Township.

The Friends have kicked off the commemoration of their 10/15 anniversaries with a matching gift campaign. During that campaign, every $10 donated to the Friends will be matched with a $15 gift from a generous donor, up to $3,000.

Over the 15 years, the Friends have brought more than ten partner groups to RHP, secured the designation of the Camp Crowell Hilaka Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places, helped reroute the Buckeye Trail through the park, and hosted dozens of hikes. The annual Kirby Day and Winter Wonders events brought hundreds of visitors to RHP.

In 15 years, the group has contributed more than $1 million in goods and volunteer hours.

The Friends plan to continue to restore the Kirby Mill, manage invasive species and stabilize historic structures in the park.
