City schedules two solar eclipse events

The city of Brecksville will host two events in observation of the total solar eclipse, which will occur on Monday, April 8.

To prepare for this rare and spectacular event, Brecksville’s Department of Human Services will feature a presentation by lecturer and teacher Carl Quatraro who will provide information on the total solar eclipse, what you will see, the best places to view the eclipse, eye protection you will need and tips on photographing the eclipse. The event will take place on Friday, April 5, at 11 a.m. Call 440-526-2499 to reserve your seat. Brecksville’s Cleveland Eye Clinic will provide free ISO 12312-2 certified viewing glasses at the event while supplies last.

On Monday, April 8, plan to watch the eclipse at Brecksville’s Blossom Hill, located off Oakes Rd., from 1-4 p.m. There will be family fun, games, activities, food trucks and ISO 12312-2 certified glasses while supplies last.

Residents are reminded not to use sun glasses for viewing and to make certain small children do not look at the eclipse without approved eye protection.
