The Grapevine by S. Serdinak
Last year Oviatt House volunteers removed the 1950’s siding that had covered the original siding on the 1836 house and found that the original was in very good condition. They scraped and painted that siding, and custom fit sashes for all of the window openings before putting in the glass.
The Oviatt House was featured on the back cover of Shuttercraft’s 2024 calendar
Their research showed there were two styles of shutters from the early 1800s and they chose one from Shuttercraft, who custom-made the shutters for the new windows. The company applauded the work of the Oviatt volunteers, under the guidance of Ken Bowman, by showcasing the house on the back cover of its 2024 calendar.
