Sagamore purchases police cruiser

Jan. 8 township trustees meeting

Sagamore Hills Township purchased a 2023 Dodge Durango police cruiser through the state of Ohio purchasing for $40,692. The vehicle is already equipped to police specifications.

Trustee David DePasquale said the police department’s traffic safety unit deployed the speed trailer to seven township roads before storing it away for the winter. In 2023, the unit also issued 44 citations and 190 written warnings. The fire department had a yearly call total of 4,367 in 2023.

Resident Mike Apel asked if there was a plan to fix the chasms forming in the pavement at Sagamore Hills Park. DePasquale said the township will look into resurfacing the parking lot, but it will likely not happen this year. ∞
