Marching band earns top honors at states

The North Royalton High School marching band capped off a successful season by earning a Superior rating at the OMEA State Marching Band Finals in Columbus on Oct. 28.

Performing their competition show, “Fortune Favors the Bold,” at Hilliard Bradley High School, the band received the highest rating possible, Superior, from the judging panel. This follows top awards at several competitions this fall including Best Music, Best Auxiliary, First Place, Reserve Grand Champion, and Grand Champion.

“It was an amazing way to end a challenging but rewarding season,” said NRHS Director of Bands David Vitale. “The students and staff worked incredibly hard, and it showed with their outstanding finale performance.”

With marching band wrapping up, the band now pivots to concert season. Upcoming performances include the NRHS Holiday Concerts on Dec. 10-11. The marching band battery, Royalettes and Royalaires, will also march in the North Royalton Holiday Parade on Nov. 26.

Next spring, the band looks forward to performing at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom during its Orlando trip.
