Mayor’s Corner by Mayor Michael Wheeler

Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a safe and sane holiday season. We look forward to 2024.

Congratulations and good luck to Sue Ann Philippbar and Bobbie Beshara as they start their next four-year term on village council. Congratulations and good luck to Marty Kruzinski as he starts his first year on village council.

In 2023, we repaired, replaced and authorized new infrastructure. We spent less than we have taken in and funded capital accounts for future replacement and repair. Throughout the year we worked to keep everyone safe and healthy.

We did this as a team. I want to humbly thank everyone who made the accomplishments of 2023 possible. I am, and we are, so blessed to have such an outstanding council, department heads, safety forces, services and administration. Kudos to all the folks who served on all of our boards and commissions.

The 2023 asphalt program is complete. We paved six streets.

We are replacing the streetlight posts at the intersection of Brecksville Road and 303 as well as the stop light. The fixtures are 25 years-old or older and many have a lot of rust and rotten bases.

Through December 15, looking only at the general fund, 98.7% of the revenues have been collected and 91.7% of the budget was expended.

As a reminder, weather permitting we are picking up Christmas trees through the first week of January.
