Join the giving season with these local opportunities
Contact the Broadview Heights Human Services Department, 440-526-4685, for more information on the following giving opportunities:
The Adopt-a-Family program is a straight-from-the-heart opportunity to give directly to a family in need. Adopt a Family invites families, businesses, churches or service organizations to make Christmas brighter for less fortunate children 17 and under in Brecksville, Broadview Heights, Seven Hills and Independence.
This year marks the 41st year for the Yuletide Hunger Program, which provides food for low-income families in Brecksville, Broadview Heights, Seven Hills and Independence. Donors are asked to bring food to their city’s respective senior centers until Dec. 1. Broadview Heights’ center is located at 9543 Broadview Rd.
Also, and just as importantly, the Yuletide committee is asking for monetary donations by check made payable to your city of residence with “Yuletide Hunger Program” written on the memo line. Funds received will be used to buy food to augment what is donated, as well as certificates for turkeys and hams.
The Salvation Army needs volunteer bell ringers. Its red kettle will be outside the Broadview Heights Giant Eagle store again this year from Nov. 22- Dec. 23.
All the money collected will be used in the South Suburban Salvation Army unit that serves Independence, Broadview Heights, Brecksville and Seven Hills. It is primarily used to prevent electricity and natural gas shutoffs for residents in the four local cities. ∞
