Cuyahoga Valley Genealogical Society

The Cuyahoga Valley Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. Members and interested public are invited to attend at the Willow Room of the Independence Civic Center, 6363 Selig Blvd., Independence.

The topic will be “Intro to Genealogical Research in the Russian Partition of Poland,” presented by genealogist Owen McCafferty.

McCafferty, owner of Saleker and Co., which specializes in Polish, Prussian and Lithuanian genealogy, will provide an introduction to genealogical research within the Russian Partition of Poland (also called Russian-Poland or Congress Poland).

Starting with the three partitions of Poland, participants will learn basic contextual history before diving into the nuts and bolts of finding villages and records within Russian-controlled Poland from 1795-1915. In addition, McCafferty will review online and offline resources valuable to researchers.

Coffee and refreshments will be served. For additional information contact Cuyahogavalleygensociety@gmail.com. ∞
