Coin shop finds new home in Sagamore

by Michele Collins

After 44 years in Cleveland, Coin Shop Cleveland has found a new home in the Sagamore Square Shopping Center.

According to owner Matthew Slater, the new location offers him a convenient commute and allows him to maintain the level of expertise and service that has kept the business successful for over four decades.

Slater bought the business in 2014 after working as an employee for the original owner, Greg Panik. Customers can buy and sell gold, silver, jewelry, rare coins, precious metals, silver flatware, platinum, palladium, rhodium and sterling jewelry at competitive prices.

The new location opened for business on Aug. 10 and Slater is in the process of organizing and sorting everything out – a monumental task after moving an almost 50-year-old business. But even at the newly opened location, he still sees 10 to 15 dealers a day in addition to walk-in customers.

Slater is an experienced dealer and has his state of Ohio Precious Metals License through the Ohio Division of Financial Institutions, which is required under Ohio Revised Code. He said customers who are interested in selling items should stop in for a quote. Customers can also text a photo of coins or pieces for Slater to provide an estimate at 216-401-0422.
