June 24—A female was arrested for prostitution and possession of cocaine and heroin at a Quarry Lane hotel.

June 24—A female was arrested for prostitution at a Rockside Place hotel.

June 25—Officers responded to a Rockside Woods Boulevard entertainment complex for report of a fight between two females and one male in front of the building. The male was arrested, and a stolen handgun was found in his backpack.

June 27—An individual at a Quarry Lane hotel was arrested for prostitution, and another individual was arrested for promoting prostitution.

June 30—In the parking lot of a Quarry Lane hotel, officers found two females smoking marijuana. Upon further investigation, police discovered drug contraband in the vehicle and one of the suspects had two grams of cocaine on her person.

June 30—A female was arrested at a Quarry Lane hotel for prostitution and possession of criminal tools. Another individual was arrested for promoting prostitution and criminal tools.

July 1—A male was causing a disturbance at a Quarry Lane hotel and was arrested after fleeing the scene. He was cited for obstructing official business.

July 1—Two intoxicated males were in a physical altercation at a Quarry Lane hotel. One male refused to identify himself and had an active warrant with Garfield Heights police for failure to appear for a domestic violence charge. He was charged with refusal to identify and disorderly conduct.

July 1—A driver on I-77 drove dangerously close to a tow truck and police car blocking traffic after an accident. The driver was stopped and produced a canceled license. His car was searched for narcotics. He was charged with attempted possession of dangerous drugs and for duties approaching a public safety vehicle.

July 2—Two females were arrested for prostitution at a Quarry Lane hotel.

July 4—A female was issued a criminal citation for shoplifting from a Brecksville Road business.

July 5—As part of an operation to target sex sellers in Independence, police arrested a female for prostitution at a Quarry Lane hotel.

July 6—An individual was arrested for prostitution and possession of criminal tools at a Quarry Lane hotel.

July 11—During a traffic stop, a 20-year-old female driver was cited for no rear license illumination and temporary permit operation without a valid licensed driver, and she was indicted for improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle.

July 12—Police noticed a bicyclist that appeared to be loitering on Rockside Road and in a gas station parking lot. He was stopped for not having lights on his bicycle and had an active felony warrant. He was charged with resisting arrest and being in possession of drug paraphernalia.

July 14—Two individuals were arrested for prostitution at a Quarry Lane hotel. The arrests were in connection with the police department’s operation to target sex sellers in the city.

July 15—Two males had a physical and verbal altercation in a Rockside Road hotel lobby after one of the individuals became highly intoxicated. The intoxicated male was charged with disorderly conduct and transferred to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department.

July 16—A female was arrested for prostitution at a W. Creek Road hotel and failure to appear on a prostitution warrant through the Independence Police Department.

July 20—Officers stopped a stolen vehicle on W. Creek Road, and the driver was indicted for receiving stolen property. The front seat passenger had a confirmed warrant for robbery and counterfeit. A bag of suspected marijuana, weighing scale and counterfeit hundred-dollar bills were found in the vehicle.

July 22—Police were dispatched to a Quarry Lane hotel when a male acted aggressively with staff and guests. When officers attempted to get him off hotel property, he became aggressive, screaming and swearing at police. A previous call regarding the male revealed that the male had a history of bipolar and schizophrenia. He was taken to Marymount Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

July 26—A dog was left inside a truck on Granger Road when the temperature registered 92 degrees. Police took the dog to an animal shelter and cited the owner for cruelty to animals.
