District to purchase new middle school bleachers

The Highland Board of Education held a short regular meeting on April 17, during which the school board authorized the district’s administrators to advertise for bids to purchase new bleachers for the Highland Middle School west gymnasium.

Superintendent Catherine Aukerman said the current set of bleachers is from the original building.

In other school board business:

  • Aukerman said the school will continue with the practice of hosting commencement at the high school stadium. Graduation is scheduled for Saturday, May 27, at 11 a.m.. The rain date May 28.
  • The board accepted the resignation for retirement purposes of Tim Snook, high school English teacher, at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

“Snook will be greatly missed both for his teaching and coaching,” Aukerman said.

  • The board accepted donations as follows: from Sharon PTO to Sharon Elementary – $3,600 for teacher classroom supplies; from Sharon PTO to Sharon Elementary – $300 for PBIS student incentives; and from D & M Wrecking/Frank Oriti to the girls track team – $400. ∞
