The Baldwin Wallace University men’s volleyball team competed in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League and achieved the title of conference champions.

Hinckley resident Brandon Long was named MVP and ended the season with 1027 assists, earning him both conference and national recognition.

Long is the son of Brennan and Nikki Long of Hinckley.

Hinckley Chamber awards two scholarships

The Hinckley Chamber of Commerce has announced that Hinckley residents Hailey Irwin and Annie Burns have each been awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

The applicants have been invited to attend the next Hinckley Chamber of Commerce meeting on Thursday, May 4, at Hinckley Town Hall to read their essays and accept their awards.

Rosalie Marie Beckler graduated magna cum laude from Kent State University with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. Upon graduating, Beckler accepted a teaching position with Young Explorers.

Highland High School senior Andersen Mast has been named a 2023 National Merit Finalist and will be considered for a National Merit Scholarship. To be named a finalist, Andersen had to meet the high academic performance standards, demonstrate leadership and contributions to school and community activities, have qualifying PSAT/NMSQT scores, and written essays and recommendations

Highland High School has sent several athletes in several different sports to participate in state tournaments over the last month. Among those who represented Highland in Columbus were bowler Kyle Dunne, who finished in 10th place in the state and earned second team All-Ohio honors. Likewise, Highland wrestler Lukas Stiles finished in eighth place at the state wrestling tournament after competing in the 190-pound weight class.

Highland High School freshman Kaitlyn Trzaska, who has competed in club-level gymnastics for several years, was named the all-around champion at the state competition on March 19 with a score of 36.175. She is a Level-8 gymnast.

Eva Hollingsworth and Macy Lorz were named to the fall 2022 president’s list at Miami University.
