BVS donates more than $57,000 back into the community

This past year the Bath Volunteers for Service, a nonprofit organization that performs volunteer service and fundraisers for the community, donated over $57,000 to the Bath and Greater Akron areas.

These funds came from the BVS annual “Tour of Distinctive Homes,” and proceeds have been returned to the community in scholarships and merit awards to students living in the Revere Local School District and in grants to 35 area service organizations.

Those organizations include: ACCESS (Empowering Homeless Women), Akron Children’s Museum, Akron Snow Angels, ArtSparks, Bath Elementary School, Bath Park Board, Bath Gamma Garden Club, CASA Board of Volunteers Assoc., Children’s Concert Society, Cast It Forward, First Glance Student Center, Battered Women’s Shelter, The Rape Crisis Center, Julie Billiart School, Jump On Board for Success, OPEN M, Bath Elementary School, Revere High School, Richfield Elementary School, Richfield Fraternal Order of Police, Richfield Historical Society, Stewarts Caring Place, Students With A Goal, University of Akron Field Station, Victim Assistance Program, Victory Gallop, The Well CDC, Western Reserve Playhouse, Williams Challenge Man2Man Fatherhood Initiative and Zanes.

BVS began more than 60 years ago after a handful of community service-oriented women came together to open a children’s library in the heart of Bath Township. Fast forward from 1958, the year Bath Volunteers for Service was formally chartered, to 2023, and the organization organizes and sponsors several fundraising events.

The 2023 BVS Home Tour (virtually June 1-12), the Bath Horse Show (Aug. 12-13) and BVS “Trivia And Tacos” (Nov. 11) will help BVS continue to make a tangible difference for so many in need in our community.
