Proclamation honors HWC anniversary

It was 40 years ago that the Hinckley Women’s’ club was formed and this year the club celebrates the past four decades of service. At the May 17 trustee meeting, trustees issued a Proclamation recognizing the club’s dedication to the community.

At the same meeting, the Hinckley Citizen of the Year Committee recognized the 2022 Hinckley Citizen of the Year which just happened to be the HWC founding member, Heather LIccardi. Liccardi was the club’s first president serving with fellow officers Cheryl Balasik, vice president, Elberta Waleri, secretary and Kathy Masek treasurer.

Awarding the proclamation was Melissa Augustine, also a HWC member. She lauded the club’s contributions including its sponsorship’ of the annual Easter Egg Hunt, volunteering for Buzzard Day, helping at Hinckley Halloween as well as sponsoring a two annual college scholarships.

“The Hinckley Women’s Club philanthropy has also provided for those in need during the holidays,” said Augustine. “The club is full of positive role models who display perseverance and quiet leadership that make our community stronger.”

Augustine presented Liccardi with a framed photograph of herself that will hang in the township meeting room aside former Hinckley Citizens of the Year. ∞
