Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad hosts March 14 volunteer fair

Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) is searching for volunteers to help deliver its mission to provide educational, recreational and heritage railroad experiences in the community. CVSR will be hosting a Volunteer Fair at the Quality Inn & Suites Richfield, 4742 Brecksville Rd., Richfield, on March 14 from 12-4 p.m.

“Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is powered by volunteers,” said CVSR President and CEO Joe Mazur. “Our volunteers are the first and last people our visitors interact with when they join us for an excursion. They truly help create memorable experiences for all our guests.”

CVSR has more than 1,200 volunteers who commit over 100,000 volunteer hours annually, interacting with passengers on National Park Scenic rides and excursions year around. Volunteer positions include conductor, trainmen, maintenance facility support, special events and many more.

“Our volunteers join us for several reasons,” said CVSR Manager of Volunteer Relations Sherri Lemley. “Some rode our trains as children or are carrying on the legacy of their family who worked on the trains. Many are looking to give back to our community. Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization.”
