Revere wrestlers compete at state tournament

Two Revere wrestlers competed in the state high school tournament March 7-9 at Ohio State University.

At 132 pounds, Cooper Krauth a sophomore with a 33-16 record, was making his first trip to the state tournament. After finishing fourth at the Alliance District, Krauth lost 13-2 in the first round to Heath District champion, sophomore Tyler Muldrew of Steubenville (29-3).

In the first round of consolation, Krauth defeated junior Tyrone Keeton (39-14) of West Carrollton 11-4. In the second round of consolation, Krauth was pinned by 2018 sixth-place finisher Brady O’Conner of Indian Valley.

Ethan Depp, who finished fifth in the district to become a state alternate qualifier at 220 pounds, made it to the state meet when Breslin Walker of CVCA was unable to wrestle. Depp, a senior with a 32-14 record, won his first match, defeating Wilmington District runnerup, senior Skyler Starszheim (29-10) of Eaton, by pin in 4:26.

Depp then lost to Heath District champion, senior Kole Aubiel (38-5) of Claymont, 9-5.

Depp was eliminated from the tournament when he lost by pin to Heath District runnerup, junior Skylor Wooley (40-8), of East Liverpool.
