Hudson Happenings

Hello Hudson, and happy September. As summer begins to wind down and the fall season soon approaches, I hope that everyone had a safe, relaxing and enjoyable past few months. Whether you spent a bit more quality time with family and friends, took a vacation, caught up on some home projects or enjoyed some events around town, thank you to everyone who helps make Hudson such an amazing place to live, work, visit and go to school.

As a follow-up to my prior newsletter, the city has taken delivery of the van to be used for our senior transportation program. This new program is scheduled to begin in September and will initially offer service on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The program will cover essential trips for medical appointments, pharmacy visits, designated grocery trips and select Hudson Senior Network events, within a 6-mile radius of the 91 and 303 intersection. Hudson residents who are 65 or older, or 55 and older with a permanent disability, are eligible. Earlier in August, the city officially opened the new DREAM playground at our Oak Grove park, located at 2200 Barlow Rd. This new playground is the first fully inclusive playground in Summit County and has something to enjoy for visitors of all ages and abilities. If you have not yet visited this new playground, please consider making plans to take a trip and experience this wonderful community asset. Thank you to everyone who helped make this project a reality.

This time of year also welcomes students back to school here in Hudson and surrounding communities. As a continued reminder for whenever you are traveling in and around our town – 365 days a year – please be alert and mindful of students who may be walking, riding or rolling to school. And while this is a good reminder for everyone, if you have a young driver, please talk to them about traffic laws, safety and being a good citizen while operating a motor vehicle. Hudson is an amazing city, with history, charm and a strong community spirit. It takes all of us playing our part to help protect those qualities and all of the characteristics that make our town such a wonderful place.

On a final note, and with the November general election only two months away, I will reiterate a past message with the following: that elected officials, business owners and managers, organizational staff, parents, residents and anyone who others look to – lead by example, show and spread more kindness and value people over politics.
