Hudson voters to decide Issue 27 and Ward 2 council race
by Judy Stringer
While statewide contests and issues anchor the top of the Nov. 3 ballot, Hudson residents heading to the polls will weigh a change to a municipal program, and Ward 2 voters will choose a city council representative.
Issue 27 asks voters to authorize an opt-out natural gas aggregation model. Hudson’s opt-in model recently stalled after market volatility led suppliers to leave the residential aggregation market or cancel contracts. City officials say the shift would automatically enroll eligible Enbridge Gas Ohio customers who aren’t under a separate contract, giving Hudson greater leverage to negotiate competitive long-term rates. Enrolled customers would receive a 21-day notice and could opt out at any time with no switching fees.
The Ward 2 race pits Dan White, appointed by council in 2025 following the sudden resignation of Chris Foster, against challenger Phil Trendell.
Early voting begins Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Summit County Board of Elections, 1050 E. Tallmadge Ave. Polls are open Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
