I hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day celebrating with family and friends. This year’s Fourth of July was especially meaningful as our nation celebrates America 250, marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

This historic milestone gives us an opportunity to honor the generations who built our country, celebrate the values that unite us and inspire future generations to continue strengthening our communities. On behalf of the city of Brecksville and the Kingston family, I wish America a happy birthday and hope everyone enjoyed a safe and memorable Fourth of July celebration.

State grant supports community center improvements

I am pleased to share that the City of Brecksville has been awarded $758,000 in State of Ohio capital funding for improvements to our community center as part of the Fiscal Years 2027–2028 Capital Budget. This significant investment reflects the importance of our community center as a gathering place for residents of all ages and demonstrates the state’s confidence in Brecksville’s continued growth and commitment to providing outstanding recreational opportunities. We are grateful to our state leaders for their support and look forward to making meaningful improvements that will benefit our community for years to come.

Sherwin-Williams opens Morikis Global Technology Center

July marked another exciting milestone for Brecksville as Sherwin-Williams officially celebrated the grand opening of its new Morikis Global Technology Center. The impressive 600,000-square-foot campus is one of the largest global technology hubs in Northeast Ohio and brings together hundreds of scientists, engineers, technicians and support professionals in a state-of-the-art environment dedicated to research, product development, and innovation.

This remarkable investment reinforces Brecksville’s reputation as a premier destination for business, technology and economic development. The technology center represents not only a major commitment by Sherwin-Williams to Northeast Ohio but also an investment in the future of innovation, high-skilled careers, and long-term economic growth. It was an honor to join company leadership and state, federal, county and local officials in celebrating this exciting achievement. We congratulate Sherwin-Williams on this tremendous milestone and thank them for their continued partnership and investment in our community!
