Foundation raises over $25,000 at Annual Hudson Open Golf Outing
Submitted by the Hudson City Schools Foundation
The Hudson City Schools Foundation welcomed 128 golfers to Ellsworth Meadows Golf Club on June 8 for the Hudson Open golf outing. This year’s event raised over $25,000 for Hudson City Schools – funds that will directly benefit students from PreK through 12th grade.
Proceeds from the Hudson Open fund Explorer Grants, a HCSF program that provides Hudson teachers and staff with the opportunity to bring additional resources, materials and innovative programs into their classrooms and schools. Explorer Grants reach students at every grade level, creating meaningful learning experiences across the entire district.
This year’s Hudson Open was co-chaired by former educator Nellie Booth, Assistant Superintendent and Director of Curriculum Angela Terella and former Hudson City Schools Board of Education member and current HCSF board member Alisa Wright. Their leadership helped carry forward a longstanding community tradition – first established by the Hudson Public Schools Endowment Fund Advisory Committee – now continued under the Hudson City Schools Foundation.
The Foundation gratefully acknowledges the support of this year’s presenting sponsors: Ohio Foot and Ankle Center (Dr. Aaron Chokan and Dr. Kristina Minniti); Tri-Mor Group; Clunk Hoose LPA, Triax Marketing and Sales and Ancora Holding Group. Additional support was provided by Luncheon Sponsors: Akron Community Foundation, Brian and Diana Taussig, Beau and Amy Bishop and Giant Eagle. Driving Range Sponsors included: Explorer Pediatric Dentistry, First & Main Wealth Management Group UBS, Gingo Bair Law, Hudson Community Foundation, Howard Hanna / Mike Gower, L’Hommedieu & McGrievy LLC, Harrison Paints & Coatings LLC, National Interstate Insurance, and RR Cabinetry.
Last year, the HCSF awarded Explorer Grants supporting a wide range of innovative initiatives, including Tower Garden materials for hands-on science learning, STEM building kits for elementary classrooms, musical instruments for world drumming programs, Art-to-Go sessions through the Cleveland Museum of Art, support for Special Education classrooms, field trip funding and essential classroom equipment and resources.
