by Sheldon Ocker
It’s honors season at Revere High School, which announced inductees into the Revere Alumni Hall of Fame and the Revere Athletic Hall of Fame.
The newest member of the Revere Alumni Hall of Fame is Ethan Margolis ’96, as presented by the Revere Alumni Association and the Revere Schools Foundation.
Margolis grew up in Richfield and built a musical career that spanned the Atlantic Ocean.
After graduating from the University of Michigan, Margolis ultimately landed in Spain, where he studied flamenco music.
He returned to the U.S. after 11 years and settled in Los Angeles, where he has concentrated his talents on the guitar and as a composer, fusing flamenco with elements of jazz, blues and Cuban rhythms.
He has collaborated with such accomplished musicians as Larry Grenadier, Macy Gray, Judith Hill, Gary Novak, Carlos Henriquez, Chano Dominguez, Eric Harland and Pedrito Martinez.
Margolis has released multiple albums as a bandleader, including Interlude of the Duende, The Blues Around Us, Soleangeles, Arsa 100, En Madrid, Sonikete Blues and Speakeasy Session.
