Women in Touch with Akron’s Needs

Are you interested in giving back to the community while making new friends?

Women in Touch with Akron’s Needs is looking for civic-minded ladies to join the dynamic group. It is an all-volunteer organization founded in 1943 by a group of seven women in the Akron area who had several goals in mind.

The first is to provide volunteers to help groups that serve the underprivileged in the community. WITAN volunteers at area food banks, at the Akron Rotary Camp and with the “Blessings in a Backpack” weekend meal program, among others. Since its inception, WITAN has given over 300,000 volunteer service hours.

The second goal is to provide small nonprofit agencies with grant funding to help the less fortunate in the area. Last year, WITAN gave $125,000 to 41 nonprofit agencies. Over the last 83 years, they have donated over $5 million to help small nonprofits serve the needs of others.

Joining WITAN is an opportunity not only to give back to the community, but also to meet new friends from all walks of life who share similar goals. WITAN is where giving grows and friendships blossom.
