Rethinking Household Hazardous Waste Collections with ReWorks

ReWorks Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collections will begin for the 2026 season Thursday, June 4 and will occur each Thursday through Sept. 24 from 2 to 7 p.m., at the new ReWorks Collection Center, located at 1201 Graham Road in Stow. 

After 30 years of providing this service to Summit County residents, we are excited to hold our 31st HHW Collection season in our new and improved Collection Center. While the service provided remains the same, the drop-off location and traffic patterns are changed. After arriving at ReWorks property, we ask that you follow on-site directional signage to navigate to the Collection Center. Be aware that our new site layout makes it possible for the traffic pattern to change based on the number of visitors, so we encourage residents to drive cautiously and observe all signs. 

As a reminder, ReWorks Household Hazardous Waste Collections are for Summit County residents (no material from businesses, schools, faith-based organizations, or non-profit entities will be accepted) for managing materials like household chemicals and cleaners, used motor oil, oil-based paints, pesticides, aerosol cans, and batteries, as well as items containing embedded batteries. No scrap tires or cooking oil will be accepted on Thursdays during ReWorks HHW Collections. Instead, they are accepted during ReWorks Recycling Days. Visit summitreworks.com/ recyclingdays for days and times these materials can be brought to ReWorks. 

ReWorks has consistently tracked visitor data during our collections and noticed persistent trends. Each season the first couple and last couple collections are among the most attended, and 2 to 4:30 p.m. is the most popular arrival time. Fewer residents choose to come to our collections between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. As a result of these trends, ReWorks encourages residents to consider visiting in July or August, when fewer residents tend to visit, and encourages arriving between 5 and 7 p.m. when possible. We share this information with residents so they can make informed decisions about when may be best to plan their trip.
