Roots-rock band Wishgarden, led by Tony Paparella, continues to earn national and international recognition. The band’s music video “In 50 Years,” created as a tribute to Tony’s parents and featuring members of the Paparella family, recently won Gold at the Los Angeles Movie and Music Video Awards. It also earned Best Original Song for Tony and Best Editing for Josh Swain, and was recognized by the Ardelion European Film Association. Tony and his wife Susan Paparella traveled to Austria for the awards.
The band closed out the year with the release of a new original single, “She Was Dreaming,” recorded at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, where many influential soul and rock songs were recorded. The song reflects on memory, time and a woman’s journey through life, adding another thoughtful chapter to Wishgarden’s evolving story.
Congratulations to the Revere High School Revere Players on their outstanding production of Camp Neverland: A Peter Pan Story. This imaginative performance was especially meaningful as students played an active role in writing and shaping the script, bringing their own voices and creativity to the stage. A special congratulations to the senior members of the cast and crew: Ruby Aldrich, Emmy Beesley, Max Braun, Angelina Camardo, Nicky Ghiorghie, Lekha Mendpara, Miah Palmer, Reese Patton, Max Richardson, Isabella Rodeman, Sophia Stencel and Jade Steiger.
Sarah Pine directed the production, with Kelsey Brewer-Johnson as assistant director, Robert Pierson as artistic director and Tom Chiera as technical director. Student directors Isabella Rodeman and Melinda Tucker also played key leadership roles. Bravo to all on a fantastic show.

The Akron Community Foundation Gay Community Endowment Fund’s annual Sugar Plum Tour is always a favorite, and this year was no exception. This year, Judge Jennifer Towell and her family had their home featured on the tour and opened their doors in support of a meaningful cause. GCEF works year-round to promote inclusivity by supporting initiatives that help everyone live safely, openly and authentically, with equity and acceptance. Thank you to GCEF and the Towell family for all you do to strengthen our community and make spirits bright all year long.

Richfield Elementary School recently enjoyed a fun change of leadership with “Principal for a Day,” a special experience for students earned through the Revere Schools Foundation Illuminate benefit. Second-grader Brock Astrosky stepped into the principal role for the day, working alongside Principal Kirk Pavelich and taking part in everything from morning announcements and hallway monitoring to the pick-up line and more. Student Emmie also joined in the experience, working with Assistant Principal Angela Smith to keep the day running smoothly. It was a memorable opportunity that highlighted leadership, curiosity and the special moments made possible through community support. As we head into a new year, it’s a good reminder of how much creativity and heart live right here in our community. I’m always grateful to share these stories, so please keep them coming.
