Cuyahoga Valley Genealogical Society

The Cuyahoga Valley Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, March 2, at 7 p.m. Members and interested public are invited to attend in the Willow Room of the Independence Civic Center, 6363 Selig Blvd., in Independence.

Doug Kusak will present “The Great Lakes Exposition of 1936-1937.” The biggest party Cleveland has ever seen was held on a lakefront garbage dump. In the midst of the Great Depression, Cleveland held a massive 100th birthday party, and everyone was invited to celebrate its industrial might. Historical interpreter Kusak from Cleveland Metroparks takes an irreverent look at how trashy things got, and how great it was for the city of Cleveland. History and gossip abound.Coffee and refreshments will be served. For additional information, contact Cuyahogavalleygensociety@gmail.com.
