Cuyahoga SWCD hosts student symposium, conservation career expo

Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District, in collaboration with the Plant Science and Landscape Technology program at Cuyahoga Community College, will host the third-annual Student Symposium and Conservation Career Expo.

The event, designed for local high school students, will take place on Thursday, May 15, from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Tri-C’s Eastern Campus in Highland Hills.

The symposium will highlight student-led environmental investigations and action projects from across Cuyahoga County, providing a platform for young leaders to present their work. Top student presentations will be recognized with awards across multiple categories. Cuyahoga County high school teachers are encouraged to enter their students by April 30. The Conservation Career Expo will offer students a unique opportunity to network with leading conservation professionals from Northeast Ohio. Representatives from local conservation agencies will share insights into their career paths, providing students with valuable guidance and inspiration. This year, the event is expanding through an exciting new partnership with Tri-C’s Plant Science and Landscape Technology program, introducing students to post-secondary education opportunities in the field. The event will also feature student awards, recognizing outstanding achievements and encouraging future conservation leaders. For more information, contact Callie Sommers at 216/503-1338 | csommers@cuyahogaswcd.org and visit www.cuyahogaswcd.org/service-programs/student-symposium-and-conservation-career-expo.
