State Rep. Bill Roemer answers questions about arrest of Speaker of the House

Following the arrest of Ohio Speaker of the House Larry Householder, along with four other individuals, ScripType Publishing asked District 38 Rep. Bill Roemer related questions. Following are the questions and Roemer’s responses

In light of the arrest and allegations made against Larry Householder, speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives, do you support his removal from that position?

I am waiting for the legal process to carry itself through.

When you received $150,000 in campaign contributions in 2018 from the Friends of Larry Householder campaign, were there obligations attached to the contributions to vote for the energy bailout bill?

There were never any obligations whatsoever for any campaign check that I ever received.

When you received $25,675 in campaign contributions in 2018 from the First Energy PAC, were there obligations attached to vote for the energy bailout bill?

There was never any implicit or explicit obligation, request or anything else.

Did you vote for passage of House Bill 6?

Yes.

At this time, how do you think the Ohio House should move forward regarding that bill?

That is something that is under consideration. There are two separate bills to repeal House Bill 6.

Are you part of any negotiations regarding that?

No

What committee would be working on that?

If it comes up, I would assume it would be assigned to Rules and Reference and they would assign it to the appropriate committee.

How has this impacted you personally?

At this time I want to gather information. I went to Columbus to serve my constituents and plan to continue to do that.
