Redwood Living celebrates new headquarters

Redwood Living Inc. recently celebrated the official opening of its new 32,000-square-foot corporate headquarters at 7007 East Pleasant Valley Rd. in the former ADP building.

The original building was an award-winning structure designed by Fleishman Architecture in 1979. Now, after a 10-month renovation, it includes many modern upgrades. Pride One served as the construction manager for the overhaul, while Redwood partnered with Vocon for architecture and design. Osborn Engineering managed structural, mechanical and electrical designs and TGC Engineering – now Davey Resource Group – led civil design.

Just west of Redwood’s previous headquarters, the new building features smart conference rooms, wireless Teams connectivity, state-of-the-art HVAC controls and energy efficient lighting. The HVAC was designed with clean air circulation in mind, and comes complete with UVC treatment and an outside air exchange. The building also features more than $2 million in energy upgrades, like lighting occupancy sensors and HVAC controls, as well as a new white membrane roof. In the building, the Redwood team aims to mitigate the spread of germs from door swings to touchless plumbing fixtures.

As a continued response to COVID-19, Redwood employees will continue to work both remotely and in-person to maintain safe social distancing and ensure CDC recommended cleaning practices.

“With this new headquarters, Redwood solidifies our relationship with the city of Independence, the greater Cleveland region and our more than 400 employees who provide intelligence, expertise and passion each day,” said Kate Vizmeg, chief people and operations officer at Redwood. “We are incredibly excited about the space we have created and hope that it is an inspiring environment for our employees, who we value so much.”

As Redwood celebrates its new headquarters, the company is reaching another milestone – its 30th anniversary.

Since Redwood’s founding in 1991, executive chairman Steve Kimmelman has aimed to reimagine traditional apartments to offer renters quality homes.

“The decision to do one thing really well was critical,” Kimmelman said. “Redwood develops and manages single-story apartment homes with two bedrooms and attached garages. While we are constantly refining our product and always striving to improve and be better, this remains our signature design.”

So far, the company boasts more than 13,000 apartment homes with another 3,500 in development, located in more than 100 neighborhoods in nine states. ∞
